Alabama men's basketball still has something to play for in 2016, but there's also plenty to be excited about for the future.

Avery Johnson's team overachieved in year one and nearly made it into the NCAA Tournament. Without a late-season slide, the Crimson Tide would likely be looking at a postseason that started on Thursday or Friday rather than on Tuesday.

Alabama will travel to Omaha to take on Creighton in the first round of the NIT. It's an opportunity to gain more experience and create some momentum heading into the second year of the Avery Johnson era.

A big part of next season is the recruiting class coming to Tuscaloosa. One key piece of that class is small forward Braxton Key, who is a top 100 player in the class of 2016. Key just finished up his final season with Oak Hill Academy, where he averaged 13.1 points per game, 7.9 rebounds per game, 3.9 assists per game, and 2.4 steals per game.
