The West Alabama Christmas Parade will take a new route through downtown Tuscaloosa this year. PARA announced changes to the parade route this afternoon. This year's parade is happening Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. following a postponement due to heavy rains on Monday.

Parade participants will still line up in their designated places; however, the parade will follow a different route which you can see in the map above. PARA sent out an email earlier describing the changes:

PARA met with City of Tuscaloosa officials this morning to discuss a slight change in the Parade route of the West Alabama Christmas Parade. Parade entries will line up as originally planned starting and finishing in their original locations.  The revised route will turn east on 7th Street, continue to 21 Avenue traveling north and then turning west to finish on University Blvd. at 19th Avenue. Uniformed police officers will be onsite to assist. Spectators and patrons of downtown Tuscaloosa are advised that Government Plaza will now be an excellent viewing location.
