College football has started and the NFL season starts this week, but high school football is off and running strong, and it doesn't get much better than high school football in the state of Alabama.

American Christian Academy @ Hale County

The 2-0 Patriots of ACA will travel to Hale County to do battle with the 2-1 Wildcats in a big 3A Region 4 match-up this week.

Earlier on Thursday, Gary Harris was able to have on the head coach of ACA, Chris Smelley, to discuss how his team is developing this season. The Patriots are coming off a great performance this past week, defeating the Lamar County Bulldogs 60-6.

Hale County will be entering the game with a loss coming by the hands of the Greensboro Raiders by a score of 40-6, giving the Wildcats a 0-1 record in region play.

Bessemer City @ Paul Bryant

It isn't a top 10 match-up in 6A, but it's a duel of undefeated's, as the Bryant Stampede play host to the Tigers of Bessemer City.

Both squads are 3-0 going into Friday night, and only one will come out with a fourth victory on the season. Bryant is led by senior linebacker Zane Samuel on defense and senior wide receiver Andreaz Spencer on the offensive side of the ball. The Tigers will look to lean on senior Jeremiah Jones at the safety position, and quarterback KD Davis comes into the game on a hot streak, throwing for four touchdowns in last week's blowout victory over the Brookwood Panthers, 47-0.

Tuscaloosa County @ Spain Park

Again, not a top 10 game in 7A, but an important match-up for Region 3 pits the Wildcats of County High against the Jaguars of Spain Park.

County High upset the Jaguars last season, which turned out to be one of the biggest victories for the Wildcats as it helped them get to the playoffs. They have gotten off to a rough start thus far, but look to turn the season around with another big win over Spain Park.

The Jaguars, however, are looking to creep into the discussion of landing into the top 10 of 7A, as they currently sit at #19. They look to improve upon their 2-1 overall record and 1-0 region record, and try to lock up first place all by themselves in Region 3.
