Now that we Alabama fans have had time to swallow the pill that was the devastating loss in the Iron Bowl, we can take a step back and start to look ahead to our inevitable January bowl game. But we all know that chaos can (and probably will) happen, so what are the most likely scenarios for Alabama's post season?

    BCS National Championship

Yes, even after losing during the last week of the regular season, the Crimson Tide still have a chance at the BCS National Championship Game. It's not much of a chance, but crazier things have happened.

Bama needs both Ohio State and Florida State to lose their conference championship games, and hopefully Michigan State won't gain more ground than expected after beating OSU. But if it does happen, the Tide will be playing the SEC champion (again).

Show of hands, who's ready for this playoff system?

    Rose Bowl

Yeah, this one is pretty much impossible for the Tide. The Rose Bowl always has the rights to the Big Ten champion and the Pac-12 champion. Now, if Ohio State wins the Big Ten, the Rose Bowl would have to replace them with an at-large bid, and they would get the second choice out of the at-large teams. But I'm 99% sure Michigan State would snag the at-large bid since the Rose Bowl would have a chance to keep it a Big Ten/Pac-12 match-up. However, if they DON'T, then Bama has a shot at taking on Stanford/Arizona State in Pasadena.

    Sugar Bowl

O.K., I said the Rose Bowl was pretty much impossible, but this one is definitely impossible. An SEC at-large team playing the SEC champion? (Assuming both Florida State and Ohio State win) No one will want to see that. But what more fitting way would there be for chaos like this to happen during the final season of the BCS?

    Fiesta Bowl

The Fiesta Bowl has a chance to make this game a gigantic bowl game. Alabama will be either the first or second at-large team selected Sunday night (assuming everything falls in place like it's suppose to), but the Fiesta Bowl gets the third pick out of the at-large teams (if Florida State and Ohio State win).

There is a chance for a potential Alabama/Oklahoma State match-up in Tempe, AZ. What a game that would be! Two differing styles of offense, a coach who says he's a man, and a coach who has the resume of the greatest coach of all time.

    Orange Bowl

Alabama has the highest likelihood of playing in Miami for the second year in a row. The Orange Bowl gets the first selection for an at-large bid this season, and why in the world would you pass up on a chance to have Alabama represent you in the bowl season?

The Orange Bowl has the rights to the ACC champion, but since Florida State will more than likely go to Pasadena to play for the Coaches' Trophy, the Orange Bowl will more than likely pull another ACC team to fill in that spot. So the most likely destination and scenario for the Crimson Tide would be playing the Clemson Tigers, or possibly even Baylor, in South Beach.
