Daylon Charlot, freshman wide receiver for the Crimson Tide last season, announced on Wednesday on Twitter that he will be transferring and will not play for Alabama for the 2016 season.

Charlot didn't gain much playing time during his freshman campaign, only gaining nine yards on two catches, but was a highly touted receiver coming out of high school from Patterson, LA.

This transfer comes in the light of Tide defensive back Maurice Smith's decision to leave Tuscaloosa, who is attempting to transfer to the University of Georgia, but SEC rules disallow him to play immediately next season if he chooses to play in Athens for former Alabama defensive coordinator and current Georgia head coach Kirby Smart.

Alabama's current crop of returning receivers include sophomore Calvin Ridley, junior ArDarius Stewart, junior Robert Foster, and incoming graduate transfer Gehrig Dieter from Bowling Green.
