Some of the top high school basketball teams around the West Alabama area will compete for the 2015 Capstone Classic title starting today.

The annual tournament is entering its third year at Shelton State Community College and it features another great lineup of teams. Defending champion Mountain Brook and 2013 champion Hillcrest are both in the field.

If you're looking for a few players to keep an eye on this week, start with these three:

  1. Mountain Brook freshman Trendon Watford - The 6'7" brother of former Indiana star Christian Watford is one of the top players in the nation for the class of 2019.
  2. Hale County guard Herb Jones - The 6'6" junior has received offers from UAB and Auburn.
  3. Bryant HS center Matthew Horton - The 6'11" post player is beginning his final season in Tuscaloosa and should see his recruiting pick up.

The tournament runs from Monday to Wednesday with the first game tipping off this afternoon between Bessemer City and Bibb County.

Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults and they get you into all four games of that day.
