It's Week 8 of the high school football season, and playoff spots are starting to take shape. We'll see how things continue to play out tomorrow night across the state of Alabama.

Hoover @ Tuscaloosa County

This isn't a battle of undefeated's and it isn't a battle for the top of 7A Region 3, but the dynamics of this match-up could result in an interesting game when the Bucs travel to Northport to take on the County High Wildcats.

County High is still looking for its first win of the season, coming off a heartbreaking 17-16 loss to Mountain Brook last week. They've been close in most of their games so far this year, and all they're waiting on is a chance to put together a full ball game and come away with a great victory over the Hoover Bucs.

Hoover is coming off their first shutout loss since becoming Hoover High School in 1994, as they fell to the Spain Park Jaguars last week, 17-0. They only have one loss in region play, so a win here would keep them in contention for the top spot in Region 3, but a loss would endanger them of not hosting a first round playoff game at season's end.

Fayetteville @ Thorsby

A match-up of two of the top teams in 2A Region 4 will take place as Thorsby plays host to Fayetteville tomorrow night.

The Tigers of Fayetteville (5-1, 3-0) are looking to stay undefeated in Region 4 play, and the Thorsby Rebels (4-3, 3-1) will try to continue their big push in momentum after taking down the Vincent Yellow Jackets last Friday night by a whopping score of 60-0.

The winner of this game will not only be able to flex their muscles in region play, but also will look to garner some respect from the Alabama Sports Writers Association, as neither team saw any points from the voters of the Top 10 in 2A.

West Blocton @ Northside

The West Blocton Tigers (3-3, 1-2) started off the season as one of the top teams in 4A, but have slipped a bit throughout the year. The Rams of Northside have made their case as to who the best team in Region 4 is, competing with Montevallo as the top team in Region 4.

Northside (6-0, 3-0) are currently just outside the ASWA Top 10 for 4A, but with a win over West Blocton, that could catapult the Rams into the Top 10 and would provide a great match-up when they host Montevallo in the final week of the regular season.

The Tigers are hoping to bounce back after dropping their match-up with the Montevallo Falcons, and looking to get back to .500 in region play. If the season ended right now, the Tigers would miss the playoffs, so they have extra incentive to play well and fight tooth and nail to the very end.
