Late night host David Letterman signed off for the final time on Wednesday night in an emotional and star-studded finale.

Through the 33 years of Late Show with David Letterman, some of the top athletes in sports walked across the stage at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City. Former Alabama quarterback Joe Namath was one that made multiple appearances on the show thanks to his history in the Big Apple.

Broadway Joe was the city's first NFL superstar and transcended the game during his 11-year career with the New York Jets. From his Times Square Sports Illustrated cover to his famous fur coats, Namath was as much a star off the field as he was on it.

His last appearance with Letterman came on August 30, 2011. Namath went on to promote Topps' new NFL Legends trading cards but spent the majority of the nine minute interview talking about his playing days in New York and he finished by throwing a pass to Alec Baldwin out on the street.

As you can see in both videos, Namath was as charming and energetic as ever.
