After a successful first month against non-conference opposition, Alabama softball and baseball embarked on their journey in the SEC this past weekend.

For both teams, it was a missed opportunity as the Crimson Tide dropped multiple heartbreakers on both the baseball and softball diamonds.

Alabama softball shutout Auburn 2-0 on Friday but lost 3-1 on Saturday and 2-1 in Sunday’s rubber game. In Sunday’s series finale, senior Alexis Osorio was hit by a line drive in the pitchers circle and had to be removed from the game.

Likewise, Alabama baseball came from behind to win 9-8 in 13 innings Friday night but dropped a pair of 6-5 decisions on Saturday and Sunday.

In this week’s edition of the Across the Diamond Podcast, James Hardy and Josh Smith examine the impact of Alexis Osorio’s injury on Alabama softball, Alabama baseball’s grit and determination in their series loss to Georgia and update the standings through one week of SEC play for the Crimson Tide.
