AJ McCarron Sets XFL Record In Final Game of the Season

Former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron finished his first season with the St. Louis Battlehawks on Saturday. During his time in the XFL, McCarron has been making a case for an MVP title with impressive comeback wins, inspiring leadership, and monster statistics. McCarron capped off the 2023 season by setting a new XFL single-season passing touchdown record.

McCarron was dominant against the Orlando Guardians, throwing for 420 yards and and 6 touchdowns, putting him at 24 passing touchdowns for the season. This broke the previous record of 18 held by Tommy Maddox of the LA Xtreme in 2001.

McCarron also finished the regular season with the second-most yards in the XFL, finishing behind Ben DiNucci of the Seattle Sea Dragons. McCarron had a total of 2,150 yards for the season, with a 68.8 completion percentage.

Though the Battlehawks failed to make the XFL playoffs, they still finished with an impressive 7-3 record, putting them in a three-way tie as the second ranked team in the league.

McCarron took to Twitter to express his gratitude to head coach, Anthony Becht and implied that he will return the league next year.
