Two Alabama men's basketball players who have battled medical issues all season will not be returning this year.

Alabama men's basketball coach Avery Johnson announced Friday that Nick King and Brandon Austin will miss the remainder of the 2016-17 season.

King, a graduate transfer from Memphis, was sidelined in December with a lung illness and has been treating it ever since. Johnson said that recent tests show that he'll be fine long-term, but he won't be able to contribute anymore on the court this season. King has used all of his eligibility and would need an NCAA waiver to return to the Crimson Tide next year.

Austin, a sophomore from Montgomery, has to rehab his back after a recent procedure and it will keep him out three to four weeks, according to his head coach. The back issue has been plaguing Austin for much of the season and he hasn't appeared in a game since December 29.

Alabama has five regular season games remaining. Next up is LSU at home on Saturday afternoon.
