Alabama Continues to Implement Game Plan for No. 1 Notre Dame

Alabama’s second-ranked football team continued preparations for the Discover BCS National Championship Game against Notre Dame on Friday with a two-hour practice inside the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility on the UA campus.

The Crimson Tide was in full pads on Friday as they work to implement the game plan for the nation’s No. 1 team. With the extended time off between the SEC Championship Game and the BCS Championship Game, Alabama will have almost two weeks to develop and learn the game plan for the Fighting Irish.

“It (the game plan) will become habit,” Alabama senior defensive end Damion Square said. “You get time to practice against the schemes and the things that they are doing, and you are trying to make good habits, so when you have to react (in the game), you react in a good way.

“It is what these two week are all about – doing things right in practice – focusing on the footwork and focusing on the plays and the good things the coaches are telling you to lock in on. In the game when the pressure comes, you can do those things out of habit, because out there on the field there is no thinking, just reacting.”

The Crimson Tide has one more workout –  Saturday – scheduled for 2012. The team will have Sunday and Monday off before returning to preparations on Tuesday, Jan. 1. Alabama will also practice on the morning of Jan. 2 before departing for Miami that afternoon. The 2013 Discover BCS National Championship Game will be played at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., at 7:30 p.m. (CST) and broadcast on ESPN.
