Alabama football’s senior defensive end Jonathan Allen was selected as one of 10 semifinalists for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation announced on Thursday evening.

Allen has put together an impressive senior season, helping to captain a Crimson Tide defense that is tops in the nation with 4.11 sacks per game, while also ranking first in rush defense, and second in total defense and scoring defense. On his own, Allen has returned two fumbles for touchdowns this season, accumulating 105 yards on the returns, while leading his team with 11 quarterback hurries. He has recorded 38 tackles, including 7.5 for a loss (-55 yards) and seven sacks (-55 yards), while also registering two pass breakups and a blocked field goal.

The award goes to a college football defensive player who has had the biggest IMPACT on his team both on and off the field. IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

A national voter panel, made up of former coaches, players, selected media and previous Lott winners, will select four finalists as well as the winner. The finalists will be announced on Nov. 29. The four finalists will be flown into Newport Beach, Calif., where the annual Lott IMPACT Trophy Awards Banquet will be held at the prestigious Pacific Club on Dec. 11.
