Alabama junior defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick has been named to the Allstate American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Good Works Team Nominee List announced today.

Fitzpatrick is among 76 players from Football Bowl Subdivision nominated for this year’s team. Eleven of the nominees will make up the 2017 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.

Fitzpatrick has been a team leader in the community and on campus. He has given his time to several groups in his two years with the football program, including the YMCA, TAP, Inc. and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, mentoring at-risk youth in the Tuscaloosa area. Most recently, he spent his spring break with a group of Alabama student-athletes as part of an FCA mission trip that did relief work in San Jose, Costa Rica. On the field, Fitzpatrick is the leader of the Crimson Tide secondary after a pair of standout seasons in his first two years in Tuscaloosa. He has returned four interceptions for touchdowns during his career to set the Alabama all-time mark for pick-sixes.

Since 1992, the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team has brought together a select group of college football players from across the country to honor their dedication to volunteerism and enriching the lives of others. While players are often recognized for their accomplishments and achievements on game day, these student-athletes have made significant contributions to the greater good of society, inspiring future generations of young athletes and the larger college football community. The 2017 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team will be announced in September.
