Alabama high school officials are implementing instant replay for football games next season.

The Alabama High School Athletic Association said Thursday it will partner with Pittsburgh-based DVSport and be the first to allow replay statewide for the entire season. Minnesota used replay reviews in semifinal and championship games last season and New Jersey plans to experiment with replay in some games.

AHSAA director of officials Mark Jones says: "We will be the first to use it throughout regular season, playoffs and championship games."

AHSAA executive director Steve Savarese says using instant replay is voluntary but hopes that at least 25 percent of the nearly 400 schools use it this season.

The National Federation of State High School Associations has approved the use of replay in Alabama for up to three years.
