The Alabama men’s golf team climbed to No. 4 nationally in the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll, released Friday afternoon. The Crimson Tide, which was ranked No. 19 in the preseason poll, jumped 15 spots in the most recent rankings after a hot start to the 2017-18 campaign.
 
Alabama has competed in two tournaments during the fall season, compiling an overall record of 26-1-1. After finishing tied for first in the season opener at the Carpet Capital Collegiate, the Tide recorded a second-place finish at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational.
 
The two tournaments featured a total of 30 teams, with 24 opponents ranked or receiving votes to be ranked in the preseason top-25. Alabama boasts a record of 22-1-1 this season against top-25 competition. UA’s lone defeat was to Texas A&M, the No. 1-ranked team in this week’s poll.
 
Alabama returns to action Oct. 9-10 when it hosts the annual Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, held at the Old Overton Club in Vestavia Hills, Ala. The event, which will feature 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday, is free to the public.
