Alabama completed its practice schedule for its bye week on Thursday. The Crimson Tide practiced outside on the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields in full pads.

Observations:

- Running back T.J. Yeldon (foot) was not seen at practice. Yeldon sat out of practice, wearing a black, non-contact jersey and a walking boot on his right foot the past two days at practice this week. Yeldon missed the entire fourth quarter at Tennessee with the injury.

- Tight end Brian Vogler (knee), who, like Yeldon was injured against Tennessee was at practice but worked off to the side with head athletic trainer Jeff Allen. Vogler, who was wearing a brace on his left knee, has been limited all week.

“Both guys are just beat up and need a little time,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said Tuesday on Yeldon and Vogler. “We’re hoping that they’ll be back and ready to start practicing again on Monday.”

- Running back Tyren Jones (suspension) is still not back at practice and has not practiced at all this week. Saban announced Jones’ suspension during his Tuesday press conference but did not specify the reason for the suspension.

“If Tyren Jones does what he’s supposed to, maybe he’ll be back sometime soon,” Saban said Tuesday.

- Running back Altee Tenpenny wore No. 7 to mirror LSU freshman running back Leonard Fournette at practice for the scout team.

- Tackle Austin Shepherd worked as the first-team left tackle for the third straight day this week in place of injured starter Cam Robinson (ankle). Robinson sustained a high ankle sprain against Tennessee and is expected to miss a “couple of weeks,” per Saban.

- Filling in for Shepherd at his usual right tackle position was sophomore Grant Hill. Hill has practiced as the first-team right tackle all this week.

- Linebacker Denzel Devall (ankle), who returned to practice for the first time since sustaining the injury at Ole Miss on Tuesday, led the outside linebackers for the third straight practice.

- Dillon Lee was back working with the outside linebackers. He has moved back and forth between the inside linebackers and outside linebackers all season.

- The defensive ends and tight ends engaged in some friendly trash talking during the media-viewing period of practice. It looked like the defensive ends, led by D.J. Pettway, started the talking when they began critiquing the tight ends as they were going through a sled drill. Tight end Brandon Greene yelled, “Come on over here!” Again, it was all in good fun.

- Wide receiver Christion Jones (hamstring) practiced again on Thursday. Jones has not been limited in practice at all this week. Jones tweaked his hamstring during warmups against Tennessee and did not play.

Next:

There is no more media availability this week. Saban and players spoke to the media only on Tuesday this week due to the bye; however, Saban will hold his weekly Thursday night radio show at Bob’s Victory Grille in Tuscaloosa. This was also the last practice of the week for the Crimson Tide.
