The University of Alabama finished up summer camps and once again identified some top targets, but one might have surprised some people.

Jacksonville quarterback prospect Carson Beck committed to the Crimson Tide after talking to Nick Saban, Dan Enos, and Brent Key this week. The 6-foot-3, 214 pound Beck plans to play both football and baseball in Tuscaloosa, but don't take his lack of a recruiting ranking as a red flag.

Hank South, recruiting reporter for BamaOnline.com, joined The Blitz with Martin Houston this week and shared a little insight that should make Alabama fans pretty excited about Beck's potential.

"Carson Beck sounds like a guy that's really coveted by this staff," South said. "I actually finally spoke with him last night and he said he was the first player or quarterback, I forgot what he said, that the entire staff had agreed on that that was the one guy they wanted at the position. So that says something about him."

That's extremely high praise considering the Alabama coaching staff evaluates hundreds of players and makes multiple offers during these summer camps.

South went on to say that Beck also told him that Alabama only planned on taking one quarterback in the 2020 class so it will be interesting to see if that changes depending on how the position shakes out in Tuscaloosa over the next two years.
