Alabama RB Damien Harris Focused on Leadership Role to Finish Career

This year hasn't produced the kind of statistics that Alabama running back Damien Harris has been accustomed to during his career, but Saturday night's game against LSU showed just how dangerous the senior can be.

He carried the ball a season-high 19 times for 107 yards and a touchdown in the 29-0 win over LSU.

"It felt good being able to get a lot of touches," Harris said. "I do think it's easier to develop a rhythm that way. The more carries you get, the more comfortable you get in the game."

Harris has recorded touchdowns in four straight games, but it's not his production that he's worried about in these final few games of the regular season.

"I think that I've done my best to improve every single year as a player. Now, more so, I'm focused on how I can improve as a leader. I think that's more important to this team right now than necessarily how well I play at times because being a guy that's played a lot of games around here, I feel like I have a lot of experience and I can play at a high level. But how can I positively effect my teammates? How can I bring somebody along with me so they can have success and we can have success as a team. At this point in my career, that's what I'm most considered about."
