Alabama softball dropped game two of its weekend series to Arkansas, 3-0, Saturday afternoon at Bogle Park to even the weekend series.

Alabama (26-12, 7-7 SEC) fell behind in the second inning after Arkansas (32-9, 7-7 SEC) scored a pair of runs, despite not posting a hit. The Razorbacks’ first hit came in the bottom of the third and its second came soon after, an RBI double that made it 3-0. The Crimson Tide would bring the potential tying run to the plate in the top of the seventh but Arkansas held on to earn the shutout victory and even the weekend series. Each team tallied four hits in the game and each starting pitcher went the distance, with Mary Haff (19-3) earning the win and junior Courtney Gettins (10-3) taking the loss.

Senior Sydney Booker led off the game with a first-pitch single, advancing to second on a groundout before back-to-back strikeouts left her stranded in scoring position. Arkansas started the bottom of the second with consecutive walks and a wild pitch moved the pair into scoring position with nobody out. Freshman Kaylee Tow ran in and made a great sliding catch on a fly ball to right, but the Razorback runner at third was able to tag up and score on the sacrifice fly to put Arkansas up 1-0. An RBI groundout doubled the lead to 2-0 before a groundout ended the inning.

With one out in the bottom of the third a fielding error and infield single, Arkansas’ first hit of the day, put two on base and Katie Warrick drove in a run with an RBI double to right field to make it 3-0. After a scoreless fourth, the Razorbacks put runners at the corners with one out in the fifth inning but a 6-4-3 double play got the Tide out of the jam with the score still 3-0.

The score remained the same heading to the top of the seventh. With a runner on first and two out, freshman KB Sides pulled a single through the right side to bring the potential tying run to the plate but a popup ended the game as Arkansas won, 3-0, to even the weekend series.

The series rubber game is set for a 1 p.m. CT start on Sunday, April 15.
