Alabama Softball is set to open up its SEC schedule this weekend against the Ole Miss Rebels. The Crimson Tide enters the series with a 15-4 record following a series win against #5 Louisiana, where they handed the Ragin’ Cajuns their first two losses of the season.

Sydney Littlejohn has been the featured pitcher for the Crimson Tide so far this season, posting a 7-0 record, a 1.03 ERA and a perfect game. Littlejohn will be looking to improve on those numbers against an Ole Miss squad that has less than half of its batters hitting above .300. In the field, Haley McCleney has been having another All-American type season, batting .518 and adding a .608 on-base-percentage. Danae Hays and Marisa Runyon have pitched in with two home runs each.

Ole Miss comes into the series with a 13-5 record following an 8-0 win over Memphis. Emily Gaitan has led the Rebels pitching staff through the year with a record of 8-1 and an 1.40 era, while Miranda Strother has led the Rebel bats with a .518 batting average.

After a tough non-conference schedule where they played three ranked teams (South Alabama, Michigan, Louisiana) Alabama heads into the SEC knowing that no series is an easy series. Following this weekend, Alabama's next two series will be at Georgia, who beat Alabama in the SEC tournament, and at home against Florida, who beat Alabama to win the national championship. There will be little room for error in the coming weeks for the Crimson Tide.

With some great matchups coming up, it's a huge chance for Alabama to improve their championship pedigree. It should be a lot of fun to watch. Alabama and Ole Miss play in the first game of a three game series on Friday, at 5:00, in Rhoads Stadium.
