With a new edition of the College Football Playoff Rankings, the status quo for Alabama remains.

Although the Crimson Tide demolished the Chatanooga Mocs 66-10, they received no support from the teams above them. All seven teams above them stave off an upset for one more week.

While there are multiple valid arguments for Alabama jumping up in the rankings, there seems to be no way to change the committee's way of thought.

Typically, Alabama gets help from upsets around the college football landscape. However, Nick Saban has received no such luck thus far this season.

Throughout the past few weeks, Alabama's early season bumble against Texas has continued to limit its movement up in the rankings, as it is essentially stonewalling Alabama behind Texas.

As the weeks go on, Alabama making the College Football Playoffs looks less likely to happen.

Given the rankings, if Alabama shocks Georgia in the SEC championship, the committee may opt to leave the SEC out for the first time in the CFP era.
