A University of Alabama student who studied abroad has tested positive for the Zika virus.

University of Alabama spokesman Chris Bryan commented in a statement published by AL.com saying, "federal privacy laws prevent us from commenting on the student's condition; however, in the majority of Zika cases, individuals make a full recovery within a week."

UA was notified on Friday on the student's condition, which is the state's sixth reported Zika case. In each instance, travel abroad has been listed as the cause.

The CDC notes on how Zika spreads:

The mosquitoes that carry Zika are aggressive daytime biters, but they can also bite at night. A mosquito becomes infected when it bites a person already infected with Zika. That mosquito can then spread the virus by biting more people.

Also, "the most common symptoms are fever, rash, joint pain, or red eyes. Other common symptoms include muscle pain and headache. Symptoms can last for several days to a week," according to the CDC.
