Audio: Collin Sexton’s Debut Didn’t Disappoint, However Free Throw Shooting Did

Last night, freshman point guard Collin Sexton made his Coleman Coliseum and his expectations were met among Alabama fans.

27 minutes of the Georgia native was enough for many to be excited about the team Avery Johnson has assembled here in Tuscaloosa.

Sexton finished with 22 points and 5 assist and his connection with fellow freshman guard John Petty, who finished the game with 14 points and 6 rebounds, will bring excitement to Coleman for a season where the Crimson Tide has high tournament expectations.

However, similar to the field goal problems that has scared football fans throughout the years, Alabama's free throw shooting could have fans holding their breathe. The Crimson Tide finished the game 12-32 from the charity strike, 37.5 percent.

Sexton was 5-12 and let his frustration show after missing back-to-back from the line, but stayed cool throughout the rest of the game. Center Daniel Giddens also struggled from the line going 1-7 for the game.

If the Crimson Tide can get over their free throw woes, this good be a solid tournament team with a ton of depth in their lineup. Avery talked after the game about running eight men in the rotation, but looking at this lineup they could run 10 with Riley Norris and Braxton Key returning later in the season.
