Former Alabama quarterback Jake Coker joined The Game last week to relive his national championship season and share some memories during his career.

Coker, who transferred from Florida State, won the starting job his final season and led Alabama to an SEC Championship and the school's 16th national title. That 2015 season ended with a memorable 45-40 victory in Arizona, and Coker said he remembered thinking he didn't want to be the first quarterback to lose a national championship game under Nick Saban.

"During that Clemson game, I remember it was one of those 3-and-outs that we had and we were down a little bit," Coker told host Ryan Fowler.

I think I missed Calvin (Ridley) on a corner route and came off to the sideline. In my head, I can't repeat this on radio, but I was thinking, 'Man, if you don't pick this up, you're going to be the first quarterback to lose for Coach Saban in a national championship.' I started taking some more chances and thankfully it all worked out."

Following Coker's graduation, Alabama turned over the reins to true freshman Jalen Hurts and came one second short of repeating as national champions.

"That's pretty impressive what he's done. I can't imagine there's too many true freshman quarterbacks that have come close to doing what he's done. I think he's going to progress and be one of the greats."

You can listen to the full interview, which includes a comparison between Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher and Saban and memories from that 2015 season.
