Avery Johnson Jr., a freshman at Texas A&M, has received a release and will transfer to Alabama to join his father, according to multiple reports.

Johnson Jr. was a three-star recruit out of high school and played in 13 games in his first season with the Aggies. He scored a total of 18 points, 10 of which came on the opening night of the season against Northwestern State.

He'll have to sit out one season per NCAA guidelines before he can play for his father Avery Johnson, who was introduced as the Crimson Tide's new head coach on April 8.

In just four weeks since that announcement, Alabama has already lost two players to transfer (Ricky Tarrant, Devin Mitchell), signed Alabama's Mr. Basketball (Dazon Ingram), and added two transfers to the program (Nick King from Memphis, Johnson Jr. from Texas A&M).

Here's what Johnson Jr. tweeted about his decision.
