A little over two weeks ago, Alabama’s fortunes of making the NCAA Tournament seemed like a pipe dream with a 1-5 record to begin SEC play.

Since January 26, the Crimson Tide has won four of their last five games including a thrilling 63-62 win Wednesday night over thirteenth ranked Texas A&M.

With the recent hot streak, Alabama is gaining attention in NCAA Tournament conversation. According to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, Avery Johnson’s squad is one of Lunardi’s “Next Four Out”. Road games at Florida, LSU and Kentucky within the next two weeks could give the Crimson Tide an RPI boost as well as a tournament resume enhancement.

Cecil Hurt from Tidesports.com appeared on Inside the Locker Room to review Alabama’s win over Texas A&M and preview the Tide’s possibilities for postseason play. Hurt took a cautionary approach toward Alabama’s tournament resume and emphasized the need for them to do certain things to put them in position to get in the tournament.

“I do think what Alabama needs to do first is defend its home court in the three games it has left which are very winnable games against Mississippi State and Auburn who are not the best teams in the league, and then Arkansas has not played well away from home traditionally under Mike Anderson.” Hurt later explained that picking up at least one road win would be critical to Alabama’s chances to get to 9-9 in SEC play and have an opportunity to get to one of the “First Four” opening round games in Dayton, Ohio.

Inside the Locker Room with Wimp and Barry Sanderson airs each weekday from 7-9 AM on Tide 99.1 and the radioPup app.
