Another week of college football has passed and with it goes another week of upsets. Missouri's hot streak was ended after a missed field goal sealed a South Carolina victory in double overtime. Duke knocked off Virginia Tech despite going 0-11 on third-down conversions. A few teams came close to suffering an upset including Miami and Fresno State. UCLA even gave the Oregon faithful a scare in the first half. BCS rankings are in full affect and every game matters so one upset has the potential to be a train wreck for any team that suffers one.

#7 Miami (FL) at #3 Florida State

Florida State is currently playing so well that many question if there is even a team that can challenge the Seminoles. A blowout victory over Clemson a few weeks ago proved that that this team is the real deal. Florida State has dominated every opponent they have faced behind freshman sensation quarterback 'Famous' Jameis Winston, but the defense has been stout as well. The Seminoles are in the top three in every major offensive and defensive category in the ACC. So will an in state rival be the first team to even challenge the mighty Seminoles?

Miami almost suffered its first loss of the season to Wake Forest last week, but a late touchdown helped the Hurricanes avoid the upset. Many say Miami played so poorly because they were looking ahead to the upcoming Florida State game. It will be difficult for any team to beat Florida State, but there are two keys to doing so if can be done at all. First, the Hurricanes must shutdown Jameis Winston. Miami is currently ranked third in pass defense efficiency. Second, the Hurricanes can not turn the ball over. Quarterback Stephen Morris has thrown eight interceptions already this season. Miami may need to more to win than just these two things, but accomplishing these goals will make this game a lot closer.

College Gameday will be in attendance for this classic matchup between two in-state rivals. Both teams being in the top 10 makes the game even more exciting. Many analysts have praised the dominant Seminoles and have raised the question of whether Alabama can even beat them. Last year many of the same professionals said the same thing about Oregon until the Ducks were beaten in overtime by Stanford in Autzen Stadium. Maybe Florida State is unbeatable, but I think it is fair to say that you never know what will happen in college football.

Virginia Tech at Boston College

The Hokies had steadily improved every week following a loss to Alabama in week one until losing to Duke last week. Virginia Tech will need to win out and hope for the best in order to make it to the ACC Championship game. The defensive side has been solid the under defensive coordinator Bud Foster, but offensively the Hokies have played poorly behind quarterback Logan Thomas. A loss to Duke knocked the Hokies out of the top 25, but another ACC loss would be a heartbreaking blow for them in the Coastal division.

Boston college has not really had the season they previously pictured. The Golden Eagles are attempting to build their program back up from the days when Matt Ryan played quarterback. The 3-4 record doesn't indicate how good the team might be because it's played a close game against Clemson and scored 34 points against Florida State. A win over Virginia Tech would be a huge boost in confidence and give them a chance to win two more games and become bowl eligible. The Golden Eagles will need to figure out a solid offensive attack to have against a stingy Virginia Tech defense and try to pull off the upset at home.

Boston College is slowing trying to become a dominant force in the ACC. Virginia Tech is trying to forget about their loss to Duke and continue on their path to a berth in the ACC Championship. How the Hokies respond to its loss will be the biggest factor in deciding how they play against Boston College.  Will Virginia Tech be able to avoid their second straight upset?

Mississippi State at #14 South Carolina

South Carolina needed a missed field goal in double overtime to seal their upset victory over undefeated Missouri despite being down 17-7 at one point in the game. This week South Carolina once again makes the upset list but this time they are the team that needs to be on the lookout. The Gamecocks are vulnerable on offense with Mike Davis suffering an injury against Missouri and Steve Spurrier not knowing if he should start Connor Shaw or Dylan Thompson at quarterback, although Shaw is appeared to be the favorite. The defense is improving, but not as lethal as they were projected to be in the preseason.

Mississippi State has struggled throughout the season but all three of their losses are to top ranked opponents. At the same time, the Bulldogs have struggled to win against teams like Kentucky. One thing that can be said about Mississippi State is they are the type of team that can pull an upset on any given week. Head coach Dan Mullen is an offensive mastermind that figures out how to get around the best defenses, but he'll need his own defense to shutdown the Gamecocks to give the team a chance to pull the upset.

South Carolina bounced back from a sad loss to Tennessee and took out Missouri last week, while Mississippi State is still looking for a win over a ranked opponent and a little more respect in the SEC West. There have been talks of Dan Mullen being on the hot seat and a victory here may just save his job and give them another step towards becoming bowl eligible. Upsets in the SEC are starting to become a common occurrence and this game has all the signs to possibly another one.

Tennessee at #9 Missouri

The Tigers still control their own destiny in the SEC East following a disappointing loss last week. Missouri has not struggled under freshman quarterback Maty Mauk, but the quarterback needs to complete more passes. On the defensive side, the line has been a big strength for this team. Despite being solid on both sides of the ball, Missouri is still capable of losing as we all saw last week. They need to continue to focus on the ultimate goal and not dwell on the past or else they will lose again.

Tennessee was beaten down by Alabama in Bryant Denny Stadium last week, but came out of that came with a positive. The Vols actually found more offensive production under freshman quarterback Joshua Dobbs in the second half. Tennessee is without quarterback Justin Worley indefinitely because of a thumb injury so Dobbs will have to lead the offense. Tennessee will need to step up on defense in order to take out Missouri and continue to shake up the SEC East. Can Tennessee overcome their loss to Alabama and knock off the vulnerable Tigers?

The SEC East has been beaten around all year. Things got even worse when the only undefeated team left in the SEC lost last week. This will be a closer battle than many expect and another upset may very well happen. College football as a whole is unpredictable but will the upsets in the SEC continue to happen as the end of season draws closer?
