That horrible sound you just heard? That was me, shrieking in abject terror as I realized Daylight Saving Time begins at 2 a.m. Sunday. 

Why?

I ask myself this twice a year. What is the point of Daylight Saving Time now that we live in a modern society? I get that DST was intended to provide more hours of daylight for farmers, but I'm pretty sure that no one milks cows by candlelight anymore--except hipsters, on whom I'll abstain from hating because I love me some artisan cheese.

But seriously, though: why do we still need Daylight Saving Time?
