Heavyweight boxer and Tuscaloosa native Deontay WIlder was arrested in Las Vegas Saturday.

The 2008 Olympic Bronze Medalist was arrested on a charge of Domestic Battery by Strangulation was was held on $15,000 bond before being released. The Daily Mail in the United Kingdom reports that Wilder appeared in court on Monday and is due to return on July 3rd.The report quoted his trainer Jay Deas, who told The Daily Mail that he is aware of the incident. but does not have any further details at this time.

Last month Wilder collected his 28th victory with a first round knockout of Brittish Boxer Audley Harrison just 70 seconds into the match.  The Tuscaloosa News reports that Wilder was in Las Vegas this past weekend to watch the Floyd Mayweather vs. Robert Guerrero fight.
