Derrick Lassic Discusses Alabama’s Performance Against Mississippi State

Former Alabama running back Derrick Lassic was on The Game Tuesday night and discussed Alabama's performance against Mississippi State.

"Like I said last week, Mississippi State always plays us tough," Lassic told host Ryan Fowler. "It doesn't matter what we're ranked. It's always a tough game."

The former Alabama standout went into further detail on why he believes the Bulldogs always challenge the Crimson Tide.

"Personally I think it is because you have a lot of players on Mississippi State from Alabama that wanted to go to the University of Alabama, but didn't quite make the cut. It's not that they were not good enough, Alabama just went in another direction. I think those players wanted to show Alabama what they were missing out on."

One of Alabama's biggest issues in Starkville was ball control. Both T.J. Yeldon and Kenyan Drake lost a fumble. Lassic told listeners what he believes would have happened if Drake fumbled in a game with Coach Gene Stallings as his head coach.

"Coach Stallings would probably put someone else ahead of Drake if he put the ball on the ground as much as he has when Coach Stallings was there."

"You don't want the running back thinking about it too much where it affects his performance, but he (Kenyan Drake) needs to realize if you do lay the ball down you will come out of the game and not come back in."
