In Alabama's 2018 season, the quartet of Jerry Jeudy, Jaylen Waddle, DeVonta Smith and Henry Ruggs III, established themselves as one of the most explosive receiving corps in college football.

Each of the four receivers caught over 40 passes and averaged over 16 yards per catch a season ago.

During the final week of spring practice, junior receiver DeVonta Smith looked ahead to his junior season including the chemistry with his fellow wide receivers.

"It's been great, just everybody coming along. Everybody finally getting the feel of like,  this is us. This is a group that we have, that we've been here for a minute. So everybody comes and gets held to the same expectation." Smith said.

Following the departure of wide receivers coach Josh Gattis to Michigan, Holmon Wiggins accepted the role of wide receivers coach after spending the past three seasons as Virginia Tech's wide receivers coach.

Smith mentioned the working relationship between Wiggins and the returning receivers.

"It's been great just the way that he teaches, and just how he teaches about being physical. That's what it comes down to, being physical." Smith said.

The junior wide receiver was upbeat about the performances of the receivers in the scrimmage and their adjustment to new offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian.

"It's been good. We've been putting in things to kind of open things up more, and I think it's been going great with what Coach Sark (Steve Sarkisian) has been doing." Smith said.

Smith later provided his assessment of the receiving corps and what it's like going against the Alabama defense in practice.
