Drew DeArmond Evaluates Alabama’s 2018 Signing Class [Audio]

Last Wednesday, Alabama signed 20 prospects as part of the 2018 signing class.

During Tuesday’s edition of Inside the Locker Room, host of ESPN 97.7 the Zone’s Talkin’ Ball Drew DeArmond provided his insights into the Crimson Tide’s 2018 signing class.

To begin his conversation with Wimp and Barry Sanderson, DeArmond gave his overall outlook regarding Alabama’s success in the 2018 recruiting cycle.

“Good to have the 2018 recruiting class as far as in the books for Alabama, but probably wasn’t the finish everybody was looking for but still got the two best players on the board in Jaylen Waddle and Patrick Surtain (Jr.) in that late signing period.” DeArmond said.

For the first time since 2007, Alabama finished outside the top five in many of the national recruiting rankings.

When asked about the difference between the top spot and the sixth ranked spot in the recruiting rankings, the host of Talkin’ Ball stated his thoughts on when we can notice the difference and how it affects Alabama and Georgia.

“You won’t really know that for a couple of years.” DeArmond said. “In Alabama’s case, no because they’ve already got a very deep, talented roster. It certainly helps Georgia because they lost a lot of seniors and they needed a talent influctuation. Especially in Alabama’s case it’s not considered that big a deal.”

DeArmond later discussed some of the misses that Alabama experienced during the recruiting process including Justyn Ross, Quay Walker and Malik Langham.
