On an early January evening back in 2010, one of Alabama’s first crop of linebackers in the Nick Saban Era would make a play that helped shape the face of college football for the upcoming decade.

Eryk Anders made one of the biggest plays in recent Alabama memory by sacking and forcing a fumble from Texas quarterback Garrett Gilbert deep in Longhorns territory. Courtney Upshaw recovered the fumble, then three plays later, Mark Ingram scored the touchdown that sealed the Crimson Tide’s 37-21 win along with Nick Saban’s first national title in Tuscaloosa.

While many of his teammates made it to the NFL, Anders is preparing for a huge weekend in another professional sports circuit. The former Alabama linebacker will make his UFC debut in the sport of mixed martial arts Saturday night.

The former Alabama star linebacker takes on Rafael Natal Saturday night from Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, New York.

After a recent training session, Eryk Anders shared his thoughts on The Gary Harris Show about his big night.

“The UFC is the pinnacle of the sport. It’s got the best athletes, the best fighters, and I’m definitely chomping at the bit.” Anders said.

The former Alabama linebacker talked about how reaching the UFC was one of his career goals in MMA.

“The UFC is definitely the goal. I tell people that the UFC is essentially the NFL of the MMA.” Anders mentioned.

Throughout his conversation with Gary Harris, Anders provided his insights into Saturday’s fight, his training regimen and his thoughts on Alabama’s 2017 football season.

You can catch Anders in action tomorrow evening on the "UFC on FOX25" with Fox's coverage beginning at 5 PM.
