After years overseas and playing the the developmental league, former Alabama small forward Tony Mitchell has signed a training camp contact to the Miami Heat.

Mitchell played in Australia and Puerto Rico throughout 2017 and has not been on an NBA team since he played for the Milwaukee Bucks back in 2014.

The Birmingham native played for the Crimson Tide from 2009-2012 averaging 12.7 points and 6.7 rebounds for his three season collegiate career and made Second-team All-SEC in 2011.

Despite the number, Mitchell went undrafted in 2012, but joined the Sacramento Kings for the 2012 NBA Summer League before he was assigned to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants November of that year.

Mitchell was a NBA D-League success being named D-League Rookie of the Year and All-NBA D-League First Team and Rookie Team in 2013. He led the Mad Ants to a league championship back in 2014.

The Miami Heat finished last season 41-41 and missed the playoffs in the Eastern Conference by just a few games. Mitchell joins JaMychal Green from the Memphis Grizzlies as the only former Crimson Tide player on an NBA roster.
