Former Crimson Tide Players Know What It Takes To Be Successful

Ryan Fowler, host of The Game, had his hands full Thursday night as three former Alabama players stopped by the studio.

Former guard Chance Warmack, the 10th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, joined the show and brought along departing Tide players Anthony Steen and Cyrus Kouandjio. Both will enter the 2014 NFL Draft with Kouandjio being projected as a possible first-round pick. All three started together in 2011 and 2012 alongside DJ Fluker and Barrett Jones, and together, the five players made up one of the greatest offensive lines in the history of college football.

Their success on the field was not done without hard work and preparation. Warmack gave some insight on what it takes to come together as a team and be successful.

"It all came with all of us getting along with each other," Warmack said. "We spent a lot of time with each other and we knew each other. It took development over time. It did not just happen overnight. We had great coaches to guide us the right way. A lot of our teammates helped us to reach that point. The five of us together accomplished a lot."

The bond between teammates with strong chemistry can go a long way in college football, and Anthony Steen believes that is exactly what separated Alabama from everybody else.

"The chemistry is where I think it really starts. For us in 2011 and 2012, I think our chemistry was to the where it was unbreakable. We would do anything for each other on the field," Steen said. "I would not have let them down in anyway. I would have died for them out there if I had to. I would have done whatever it took to win."

Team chemistry is what allows players to know what needs to be done to win without even communicating. Cyrus Kouandjio, the youngest starter on the 2012 offensive line, had to earn his stripes to build a relationship with his team.

"It takes a lot of time and a lot of reps to know the guy nest to you and to know the ins and outs," Kouandjio said. "To be able to communicate with him without speaking to him and for the whole offensive line to just click."
