Four Auburn University football players were arrested on Saturday for possession of marijuana, which is a misdemeanor offense in Alabama.

Top 2015 defensive prospect Byron Cowart and starting cornerback Carlton Davis was among the group that were charged on Saturday night by Auburn Police, according to the Opelika-Auburn News. Fellow sophomores Ryan Davis and Jeremiah Dinson were also listed in police reports.

Cowart was a consensus top-10 national recruit in the class of 2015 and appeared in 12 games as a freshman. Carlton Davis enjoyed a breakout season last fall that included 56 total tackles and a team-leading three interceptions.

Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn told Opelika-Auburn News that he is aware of the situation and will handle the incident appropriately.
