Freshman DeSherrius Flowers Ineligible to Enroll at Alabama for Fall
The running back position took another offseason hit when The University of Alabama announced that freshman DeSherrius Flowers will not be enrolled this fall.
The official school release reads:
Due to a recently discovered initial eligibility issue, DeSherrius Flowers will not be cleared for enrollment at Alabama this fall. Flowers arrived at UA in January and participated in spring practice.
The four-star recruit out of Mobile, Alabama was an early enrollee this January and practiced with the team through spring camp. He had one carry for two yards in the 2015 A-Day game.
There will be a lot of uncertainty at running back next season beyond Derrick Henry and Kenyan Drake as Flowers marks the fifth running back lost in 2015 - T.J. Yeldon turned pro, Altee Tenpenny transferred, Tyren Jones was dismissed, and Bo Scarbrough tore his ACL.
Alabama also announced that defensive back Jonathan Cook is "no longer a member of the team" without providing any further detail. Cook was entering his redshirt sophomore season for the Crimson Tide.
