As Coastal Carolina clinched one of the most improbable national titles in college baseball history Thursday, the rest of college baseball looks to lay the foundation for a title run in 2017.

The Alabama Crimson Tide laid the ground work for the 2017 season with the hiring of new head coach Greg Goff.

Goff laid out his vision for Alabama baseball, provided an update on his coaching staff and reflected on his coaching journey on The Gary Harris Show.

The newly hired Alabama baseball coach listed recruiting as a critical area toward his vision of getting Alabama to the College World Series.

“We got to be really good in our recruiting. When I worked for Coach (Keith) Madison at Kentucky, he said, ‘You can’t win the Kentucky Derby with some mules.’” Goff said.

Goff relayed a piece of advice that Nick Saban had given him prior to the introductory press conference.

“When I went over and talked with Coach Saban before my press conference, the first thing he told me, ‘Coach (Goff), get some recruiters and find the best players.’” Goff said.
