The top ranked Alabama Crimson Tide sewed up their ninth straight 10-win season with a 51-3 demolishing of Mississippi State in their most recent game. The 10-0 Crimson Tide hosts Chattanooga to wrap up their non-conference schedule for the 2016 regular season.

Through ten games this season, the Ole Miss Rebels have been the only opponent that Alabama has not defeated by double figures.

During Tuesday’s edition of Inside the Locker Room, former Arkansas and Ole Miss football coach Houston Nutt looked at the difficult task that opposing teams have in beating college football’s top ranked team.

One of the primary task relative to game planning against Alabama is accounting for one of the most talented defenses in college football. Nutt highlighted their opportunistic nature on defense.

“I’ve never heard of seven defensive players out of 11 that score. They can outscore half the country’s offense, so they got so many ways to beat you.” Nutt said.

The former Arkansas and Ole Miss head football coach alluded to Alabama’s talent and Nick Saban’s willingness to use his bench as assets in favor of the Crimson Tide.

“When you lose an Eddie Jackson, you lose a quarterback in the secondary. You’re not going to replace Eddie Jackson, but here’s what Nick Saban can do. He can use this word, this all important word called, ‘Next!’.” Nutt said.

He later offered his keys to beating Alabama.

“Number one is you can’t help them at all. You got to hope that they help you. You can’t give up big chunks of real estate in the kicking game. You got to play that tight. You got to take care of the ball.” Nutt said.

Nutt also took a look at Alabama’s complete package on defense and how an athletic quarterback gives an opposing team a shot to win.
