TPL Georgia, the Bulldogs affiliate for The Players Lounge, tweeted the hot take that went viral on Twitter, claiming that Smart is the best college football coach because of his record against certain SEC and in-state programs.

"Kirby Smart is: 7-1 vs. Auburn 6-1 vs. Tennessee 6-1 vs. South Carolina 5-1 vs. Tech 5-2 vs. The Gators The best coach in College Football," wrote the account on Twitter.

However, the user failed to mention Georgia's record against Alabama nor the accolades of Saban and Smart.

So, let's break it down.

According to Winsipedia, Alabama is 42-26-4 against Georgia all-time, including 4-1 against the Smart-led Bulldogs. Georgia's only win came in the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship where Georgia beat the Tide 33-18.

The Crimson Tide is also 15-1 against Tennessee, 11-5 against Auburn, 2-1 against South Carolina, 8-1 against Florida, and 0-0 against Georgia Tech (haven't played since 1984) in the Saban era.

What about accolades?

Smart has won two national championships, two SEC championships, five SEC East championships, three-time SEC Coach of the Year, and the George Munger Award.

Saban has won seven national championships, ten SEC championships, 15 SEC West championships, five-time SEC Coach of the Year, two-time AP College Football Coach of the Year, two-time Paul "Bear" Bryant Award, George Munger Award, and that's just scratching the surface.

Smart is a good coach, there's no question about that. Hell, he was trained by the best. But he still has a long way to go just to be considered the best coach in college football.
