Kenyan Drake Talks About Playing for Nick Saban

Former Tide running back Kenyan Drake joined Ryan Fowler to discuss his time at the University of Alabama and how it was like to play for head coach Nick Saban.

Drake came to the University of Alabama in the 2012 signing class as one of the top running back recruits in the country. He saw his first action in his first game at The Capstone, getting one carry against the Michigan Wolverines in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic, and earned plenty of playing time all the way through his junior season. Unfortunately, he suffered a season-ending leg injury against Ole Miss in 2014, but commented to Fowler about how supportive Saban was to him throughout his career.

"There [were] a lot of ups and downs in my career early on that helped me become the person I am today and the player that I wanted to be. I thank him for sticking by me every step of the way, to eventually me making a play that I hope to remember for the rest of my life."

Many of Saban's former players have said how much of an influence he's had on them, both as players and as men. One of his most prominent qualities is his honesty and loyalty, and Drake was sure to bring that up about his former coach.

"He's a very straight forward person, but he's also a very caring person, so he's going to be straight forward about your ability to go out there and help your team win."
