Alabama second baseman Kyle Overstreet and pitcher Will Carter and were selected five picks apart in the 14th round of the MLB Draft on Wednesday. 

Overstreet went first at 418th overall to San Diego Padres and Carter followed at 423rd overall to the New York Yankees.

The junior Overstreet started all 60 games for the Crimson Tide and earned All-SEC Defensive Team honors for his work at second base. The Boaz native also got time at catcher and third base during the 2015 season. He also excelled at the plate, finishing second on the team with 41 runs scored and 38 RBI.

Carter, also a junior, began the year as a starter before transitioning to the bullpen. In eight relief innings pitched, the right-hander didn't allow a single run while striking out 10.

The Alabama baseball team now has a total of five players drafted from the 2015 roster. The MLB Draft will complete its 40 rounds on Thursday.
