After the departure of Lane Kiffin and Steve Sarkisian, Alabama offensive coordinator Brian Daboll had the presser of managing the talented at running back, dealing with younger wide receivers, and help quarterback Jalen Hurts with his progression as a passer, and now he's being honored for those efforts.

Daboll was one of 56 nominees for the 2017 Broyles Award for the top assistant coach in college football. Under Daboll, the Crimson Tide has rushed for 278.4 yards and 40.9 points per game, both top-10 in college football.

Defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt didn't make the list despite fighting through injuries. Alabama only allows 9.8 points per game, first in the country.

Daboll was an assistant offensive coach for the New England Patriots and won five Super Bowls with the team. Finalist of the awards will be invited to Little Rock on December 5 where the winner will be announced.

Other nominees include Auburn's DC Kevin Steele, Georgia DC Mel Tucker, Clemson Co-Offensive Coordinator Tony Elliott, and LSU DC Dave Aranda.
