Ole Miss NCAA Allegations Discussion on “The Game” [Audio]
The switch from TIDE 99.1 to TIDE 102.9 has expanded our listening area, but the conversations will continue to focus around college football, and more specifically, Southeastern Conference football. The main topic over the past few weeks has been the NCAA allegations placed on Ole Miss' athletic department, and Ryan Fowler discussed it further with some callers on "The Game" on Thursday.
Cheating has been a problem in college football for as long as we can remember, but Ole Miss' standing with the NCAA has been shaky over the past few years. Under former head coach Houston Nutt and current head coach Hugh Freeze, the Rebels have tested the NCAA with bending the rules, and on May 27, they released a notice of allegations that they had sent to the NCAA, explaining all the rules that they had broken since 2010 in football, women's basketball, and track and field.
The Rebels self-imposed penalties upon themselves, in the hopes of softening the blow from the NCAA, yet with the number of serious allegations against them, it seems unlikely that they'll dodge serious punishment.
This was the main topic of conversation on The Game on Thursday, and Fowler spoke to a couple loyal callers to get their takes on the situation going on in Oxford, MS.
Be sure to catch The Game each weekday from 2-6 PM.
