Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood and Stephen Gallacher are Europe's wild-card selections for this month's Ryder Cup against the United States at Gleneagles.

Former No. 1 Luke Donald was the high-profile player overlooked by Europe captain Paul McGinley when he announced his three picks Tuesday at European Tour headquarters at Wentworth.

Gallacher, a Scot, is one of three rookies in the 12-man European team, along with Victor Dubuisson and Jamie Donaldson. The other players who qualified automatically for McGinley's team are Rory McIlroy, Henrik Stenson, Sergio Garcia, Justin Rose, Martin Kaymer, Thomas Bjorn and Graeme McDowell.

Donald has been on the winning side in each of his four appearances for Europe but has struggled for form this year after making changes to his swing.

The Ryder Cup will be played from Sept. 26-28.
