Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones began the season as the third-string quarterback and finished by starting his final three games and winning a national championship. The incredible rise to the pinnacle of college football led to many people speculating he would turn pro with fewer than 100 collegiate pass attempts.

The redshirt sophomore held a press conference on Thursday in his hometown of Cleveland to announce his decision. Unlike Buckeyes fan LeBron James, Jones decided to keep his talent in Ohio for at least one more season.

That decision leaves Urban Meyer with potentially three Heisman Trophy candidate-quarterbacks entering next season. Senior Braxton Miller has been rumored to transfer for his final season of eligibility, but Meyer has said repeatedly that he expects Miller back for one more season.

Then there's J.T. Barrett, the redshirt freshman that led Buckeyes to the Big Ten Championship Game following the injury to Miller. Barrett had a spectacular season before fracturing his ankle. He threw for 2,834 yards and 34 touchdowns while rushing for 938 yards and 11 touchdowns in 12 games.

The quarterback position alone is a good reason why Ohio State is favored to win consecutive College Football Playoff championships.
