Two injured Alabama players are likely to play in Saturday’s SEC Championship Game against Missouri but will need extra rest ahead of the pivotal matchup.

Alabama coach Nick Saban said Monday that both left tackle Cam Robinson and outside linebacker Ryan Anderson are “day-to-day” this week with shoulder sprains sustained in Saturday’s 55-44 win over Auburn.

“Cam's going to try to do some stuff today,” Saban said. “We're hopeful he'll be able to practice tomorrow. When guys get hurt like this, you have to see the day-to-day reaction to see how they can perform and that’s what we’ll do in this case.”

The prognosis was the same for Anderson.

“Same thing, sort of a shoulder sprain,” Saban said. “Hopefully he'll do some things today in practice and he'll be a little bit like Cam in terms of how does he respond to the work and hopefully he'll be able to practice more tomorrow.”

Robinson, a true freshman from West Monroe, Louisiana, sustained his shoulder injury during Blake Sims’ 11-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter that gave Alabama a 42-36 lead. In his absence on Saturday, senior Austin Shepherd shifted from right tackle to left tackle and sophomore Grant Hill came off the bench to fill Shepherd’s spot.

Robinson, who has started every game this season for the Crimson Tide, has also dealt with a nagging ankle injury since the Tennessee game on Oct. 25.

Saban said that offensive line has done a good job this season, despite the number of injuries.

“I thought in this last game, especially, they did a good job for the most part,” he said. “They’ve done a pretty good job of protecting the quarterback. … We’ve done a good job of getting a hat on a hat for the most part, and we’ve been able to be pretty efficient in the way we’ve been able to run the ball.”

Anderson, a sophomore from Daphne, injured his shoulder during the second quarter and returned to the game in the second half. He has made 23 tackles (seven for loss) and three sacks in 12 games this season.
