Over the last two decades, the SEC has enjoyed great success financially and in the number of championships won by its member schools in a variety of sports.

However, the SEC in men’s basketball is struggling to field consistent NCAA Tournament teams except for Kentucky in recent years.

SEC Network play-by-play broadcaster Dave Neal came Inside the Locker Room to give his assessment of the upcoming football season and the disappointing state of SEC basketball.

The veteran broadcaster touched on Georgia fans filling Sanford Stadium for the G-Day game, the Auburn quarterback situation and the recent downturn in SEC basketball.

Concerning SEC basketball, Neal stated that the 2015-2016 basketball season showed signs of promise in January but sharply declined in February and that overall, the SEC is not where they need to be in men’s basketball.
