SEC Picks: Upset Alert in ‘Gamecock Bowl?’

Last week I went 5-0 and for the season I'm now 19-2. I pick games straight up and not against the spread. Here are this week's SEC picks:

Arkansas (2-6, 0-5 SEC) at Florida (5-3, 3-2 SEC)   11 a.m. CT •ESPN2 

This is a matchup of struggling programs, but the Gators are both at home and on the cusp of bowl eligibility. Florida gets that needed sixth win, 31-20.

Texas A&M (5-3, 3-2 SEC) at Ole Miss (7-1, 4-1 SEC)  11 a.m. CT•ESPN   

TAMU  has more at stake [again, bowl eligibility] but Lane and the Rebels are at home and that's bad news for Jimbo Fisher and good news for Hotty Toddy nation. Ole Miss wins, 38-24.

Jacksonville State (7-2) at South Carolina (2-6, 1-5 SEC)   11 a.m. CT • ESPNU 

A well-placed source told me this week that Carolina is down to ONE scholarship offensive tackle. Tight ends are having to play there as are walk-ons. This is the first meeting ever between this pair of Gamecocks and I'm going with the upset: Jax State plucks the home Roosters, 28-24.

UConn (1-7) at Tennessee (6-2, 3-2 SEC)   11 .m. CT • SEC Network   

What a snoozer. Joe Milton will light up the Huskies like the proverbial Christmas tree, 52-10.

Missouri (7-1, 3-1 SEC) at Georgia (8-0, 5-0 SEC)   2:30 p.m. CT • CBS 

This has the potential for me to pick an upset, but I must pick with my head and not my heart. IF this were played in CoMo, I might go with the Tigers, but it's between the hedges so... Georgia 38, Mizzou 28.

Auburn (4-4, 1-4 SEC) at Vanderbilt (2-7, 0-5 SEC)   3 p.m. CT • SEC Network   

Did you realize this series is tied 21-21-1? That says a LOT about Auburn's football tradition. All jokes aside, Vandy seems to have pretty much quit and Auburn will plaster them without needing Jordan-Hare voodoo. Tigers take it, 38-17.

Kentucky (5-3, 2-3 SEC) at Mississippi State (4-4, 1-4 SEC) 6:30 p.m. CT • SEC Network 

Both these teams are sniffing bowl eligibility, but overall Kentucky is healthier and playing better. Despite being the road team, I'm going with the Wildcats to get that coveted sixth win, 24-14.

LSU (6-2, 4-1 SEC) at Alabama (7-1, 5-0 SEC)  6:45 p.m. CT • CBS/Tide 100.9, FM, 953 The Bear, 1230 WTBC   

And now, the big one. Much is at stake, especially for Alabama, which controls its own destiny. The Tide will be in Atlanta one way or the other in Decembers, BUT would rather be there the first weekend to face Georgia in the SECCG than New Year's Eve for the Peach Bowl.

LSU's secondary is still battling the injury bug, and as great as likely All-SEC quarterback Jayden Daniels is, Jalen Milroe will feast on the deep ball and the Tide will win this shooting match, 41-31.
